Four bands descend on The Hemlock Tavern this September to celebrate the release of Summer's sunny grip and usher in the bleak yet inspiring months ahead. The Foreign Resort, Denmark's finest post-punk export, return to SF supporting their latest release The American Dream. Joining them are local synth-pop favorites, Introflirt. Hot on the heels of their second album, Temporary Heaven, they were recently named SF Deli's emerging artist of the month.
Fake Your Own Death (SF) will bring their misfit rock to the stage and NITE, on tour from Dallas, will open up the show with their infectious new wave jams.

The Foreign Resort

The Foreign Resort are Denmark’s finest musical export of post-punk and dark new wave. Led by singer and songwriter Mikkel Borbjerg Jakobsen.
TFR combine the shadowy mysticism of The Cure’s Pornography era with a driving production aesthetic akin to LCD Soundsystem. Intricate reverb-enveloped guitar lines glide over Steffan Petersen’s motorik bass and Morten Hansen’s powerful drumming, all while Mikkel’s taut and sincere vocal delivery demand your attention.

Introflirt

Making social anxiety glamorous, Introflirt is a soundtrack for the insecure. As musicians and models, they’re confident and suave - there’s no doubt about that. But underneath the serious synth pop, classy aesthetics, and retro appeal, Introflirt is just as awkward as you.
But isn’t awkwardness an obstacle? No, says Introflirt. It’s an advantage. The Oakland-based group’s approach to creation and performance is informed by an unease with social interaction and the struggle to form a self-actualizing view of personality. Thriving on making this internal experience public, Introflirt invites listeners to embrace the freedom that being comfortable with awkwardness allows. With Introflirt, being an outsider means being an insider.

Fake Your Own Death

Fake Your Own Death songs are small stories about misfits and the collapse of meaning, then there’s layers of reverb and infectious beats to create an alluring patchwork of uneasiness and romantic nostalgia.
NITE

NITE are Canadian-born twin brothers, Kyle and Myles Mendes, based in Dallas, TX. The duo create a unique hybrid of electronic dream-pop music with a foray into rock. Their strong dueling vocals might remind oneself of Tears for Fears' Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, with a delivery of tasteful guitar hooks amidst bright synthesizers and throbbing drum machines. NITE have performed alongside artists such as Clean Bandit, Modern English, Men Without Hats, A Flock of Seagulls, Zola Jesus, Small Black, Jagwar Ma, Anamanaguchi, Blackbird Blackbird, The New Division, and ChameleonsVox. They toured alongside German electronic band Seabound on a Western US tour in early 2016. Currently, NITE have plans for a U.S./Canadian tour in Fall 2016 with The Foreign Resort (Denmark), and will release a brand new album to coincide, featuring the song "Dreamer", as a follow-up to their 2014 release 'I Am Not Afraid'.
